There’s so much buzz about probiotics that I decided to write this review, even though I normally do these kinds of reviews. First of all, there are hundreds of probiotic strains being sold, and a handful of really common ones, many of which naturally occur in your body, many of which you get from eating different foods (like cheese, or yogurt). If you’ve ever traveled and had diarrhea, it is usually caused by foreign organisms stripping your body of the good bacteria in your stomach usually cause this. I’ve done a lot of research on this because I travel to 3rd world countries regularly, and I’ve always experienced stomach issues within the first few days and weeks of traveling.
What I like about Pro-50 is that it literally has the most strains and organisms of any other product I’ve seen on the market in it’s price range. If you research on Amazon, you’ll notice that most of the most popular probiotics have from 1-5 strains. I highly recommend you research what each strain does, some are simply fillers! What I liked about Vitamin Bounty is on their website they have information about all 13 strains that are in their product, it seems very comprehensive, and especially for someone like me who travels so much, it’s great knowing that amongst the 13 strains I’ll likely get the support I need for my specific issue. It’s something you wont get from a product with less strains.
This product also comes with 50 Billion Organisms per serving, where most come with 5. This is an important distinction, because to get the same amount of probiotics you’d have to take dozens of pills! I think this product offers a great value for what it is, and since I’ve started taking it I have had a lot less issues with my stomach, particularly with when traveling and with diarrhea.
One recommendation:
If you’re going to be traveling to a foreign country (even Europe, although they are relatively modernized and have good water systems, there is still different bacteria there than in the US) you should really start taking Pro-50 a week or more before you travel. It’ll ensure that when you arrive your stomach is ‘protected’, and will limit your potential for some of those traveling ailments that can really put a damper in your trip.
Lastly, I noticed another reviewer mention the milk test - I also tested this product and the milk test worked! I recommend that you store your probiotics in a cool, dry, shaded place. This product comes in a glass bottle which helps a lot, but to be sure your probiotics stay alive you should always take good care not to expose them to too much heat.

Update: This IS working on my diverticulitis! Mega antibiotics along with severe attack left me weak and feeling horrible. These Pro-50's have me much improved. I plan to stay on it for good to keep gut in best shape I can. These probiotics are different from my customary ones and I really didn't think they would make much of a difference. I was wrong. These work. My only complaint is that I wish they were less costly. Matherson also a great seller who helped me with a glitch.
Very good digesitve health, and symptom relief.

So my wife and I have both been taking this Vitamin Bounty - Pro 50 Probiotic - 13 Probiotic Strains, 50 Billion Organisms Per Serving, since receiving it in the mail from Amazon. I really do love probiotics, and they have helped me so much since I have found them and started taking them. I suffer from IBS, and Diverticulosis, both attributed to my Gulf War service. They are both sometimes totally debilitating and almost crippling diseases. But since I have started taking probiotics, the symptoms have decreased. Mind you this is not some cure all, take it and you are healed.
But, any little bit helps, when you suffer as much as I do, with these diseases and related symptoms. So ANY relief, no matter how small is appreciated. Not to mention that your entire immune system relies on a healthy digestive tract, and healthy stomach flora. I have been very pleased with the results from these probiotics, as well as my wife. We take them every day. One thing that I do personally though, is split up the dosage into a morning dose and then an evening dose.

CONCLUSION:
The ingredients and potency in these capsules are great, but for the price, I wish I personally had felt faster benefits from taking this. I had no side effects, but I did not notice any dramatic improvement after a couple of week. Either the effects are subtle, or they are cumulative over the long term. That being said, I have yet to find a probiotic capsule that does any better, so I will give it four stars for the potency and ingredients.
For anyone unsatisfied with results from these or other probiotic capsules, kefir may be worth trying. As I mentioned above, I received this product at a discount in exchange for an honest review.
